Here is the original picture from Alabama of a big black cat!
Here is a picture of the back side of the feeder. Which side of the water was the cat on????
Conclusion! The exact position can not be conclusively proven. The animal could be on the far side of the water hole or it could be on the near side. Also due to the low quality of the picture, it comes from an older model trail cam, the exact species can not be guaranteed. But after looking at it myself and sending it to a number of cougar experts, it appears to be a large black bobcat. To large to be a house cat, color and it waist are not consistent a cougar, long tail not visible but it is possible that it is simply held in a way that has it obscured.
Could it be the mythical black panther that everyone around the country see but can never be proven??? Impossible to say from this picture. BUT if you believe that the cat is on the other side of the water hole then it is certainly to big for a bobcat. You be the judge.
RARE: Regardless of if it is a black panther or a black bobcat as I believe it is indeed a rare animal. There have only been about a dozen black bobcats ever officially documented. There are also other undocumented yet highly probable sightings of black bobcats.
That is my conclusion what is yours?
